Nomad In Love
An intimate exploration of the current state of international affairs.
An adventurous spirit and intense curiosity about the world have always kept me from staying in one place for too long. It was a most a most serendipitous circumstance that allowed my nomadic tendencies to be carried over into a rather exhilarating career, which brought into my life some of the most unforgettable exploits.
Between my work in media, my education abroad, and my experiences as an international serial dater, I have traveled the world and learned a lot about people, places, Dutch fetishists, and myself. In doing so, I've been blessed with some fascinating and surreal experiences that now make entertaining (although often inappropriate) cocktail party conversation.
In addition to the examination of globalization and cultural shifts in the news, Nomad In Love is a personal collection of travel journals, city reviews, poetry, prose, short stories, often featuring the most amorous aspects of those journeys.
Journal entries, photos, hotel room mementos and any other tokens of experience that I have managed to save have gone into helping me recreate experiences to allow readers to explore the details of several different cities, both inside and outside the hotel room. Revealing on a variety of levels, if a reader isn’t interested in the best locals bar for Kava Kava in Oahu, then perhaps they’ll be interested in learning what happens behind the closed wooden blinds of the Kahala Mandarin Oriental with only the sounds of splashing dolphins in their lagoon to mask any secrets the suite’s guests may be sharing.
An old TV script, a matchbook with a pink elephant, and an archived e-mail from a producer, remind me that even though my trip to Amsterdam’s red light district was for work, I still found time to have two warm vodka-tonics while catching a gorilla in compromising positions at the live show inside the Casa Rosso. And although the Ramada at the Amsterdam City Center isn’t exactly a romantic place, those red walls and pillows sure do a mildly “space cake” influenced girl to give her own adult show from the floors above Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal.
It’s an ever-growing population who join the ranks of the well-explored and those who consider themselves Citizens of the World. Nomad In Love may appeal to this audience for it's geographic familiarity. To a more stationary audience who may not use the travels tips, but are in search of a different adventure, Nomad In Love offers a vicarious exploration of the world and the excitement of new and exotic romance with every runway touchdown.
